Lipstick to FIT YOU!

Lip shades best for different Skin tones
It’s a fact that different lip shades are best for different skin tones or rather different shades of lips. From the Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual, here’s a quick guide for selecting lip colors according to the natural color of your lips. If you have pale lips – go for beiges, sand pinks, light corals, pale pinks or bright reds. If you have medium lips, go for brown, pale rose, pink, oranges, warm reds. If you have dark lips, go for browns, deep reds, plums, deep chocolate, or deep berry colors. For two toned lips, go for chocolate, blackberry, deep plums, deep raisins and deep reds. A rule of thumb is if you have pale lips, use pastel shades like pale pinks or beiges because deep tones tend to be overwhelming for daily wear so apply them with a light hand. If you have super dark lips, blue-toned or deep lip colors go best and pale, nude shades will appear ashy on you. For uneven colored lips, try concealing your lips first to even out the skin tones and then apply the natural lip color.
Matte Lipsticks - Matte lipticks usually have a powdery finish and are great to make that poster finish. They’re dense, last the longest and are partially known for being a little drying. If you have dry and flakly lips no matter how many lip scrubs you’ve taken, matte lipstcks are not for you. They will emphasize the flakes on your lips which isn’t a hot look.
Sheer Lipsticks - Sheer lipsticks are semi-transparent colors that are great for everyday. They tend to have a semi-gloss finish that makes it more moisturising. If you are looking to add just a tinge of color, try going sheer. However, if you know that the color will make your look, you might want to opt for something else.
Amplified Lipsticks/Lip Tars - These are the most pigmented forms of lippies. If you’re looking to create that Classic Holiday Look or Katy Perry’s hot pink lips for an event or a costume party, then these lipsticks will really put a boost. They’re more long lasting and can even semi-stain your lips so remember when removing
ALWAYS PUT THE LIPSTICK UP TO YOUR FACE TO SEE IF YOU LIKE IT!!

How To Make Your Makeup Stay On

How To Keep Your Makeup From Rubbing Off On Places It's Not Supposed To

GLAMOUR

OK, I know I'm not the only woman in America who has this issue: I apply makeup, put on a shirt with a collar and by the middle of the day, it's all over it. Or, how about when you hug someone and then notice that half of your makeup has rubbed onto their shirt (or face!)? Yikes! Luckily, I have some stellar tips you can use to keep this beauty faux pas from happening to you lovelies...
0819-KeepMakeUpOn_bd.jpg
Because I know that you're just dying to find out what I have to say on this topic, I thought I'd spare us the formalities of an intro and dive right into the tips:
1. Wear primer.
M.A.C. Cosmetics Senior Artist John Stapleton sums up the whole primer idea pretty well when he told me, "If you want paint to stick on the wall you need to prime it first." Although this is a pretty "Duh, we already knew this one" tip, you'd be surprised to find out how many of you really don't do this one simple thing before applying your makeup. (And yes, I'm guilty of not doing it it as well!)
2. Remember to blot throughout the day.
If you've got oily skin, you're probably already doing this. But, if you're like me and have normal/combination skin, then this may sound like a fairly strange idea. However, John informed me that blotting papers help to reset your makeup which leads to less shifting.

3. Give your face a spritz.
You know when it's swelteringly humid or hot outside and you feel like your makeup is melting right onto your shirt collar? Right when this feeling hits, try spritzing your face with a little bit of Evian Spray Natural Mineral Water Facial. Now, don't get too crazy and drench yourself; just hold it a few feet away and give yourself a little spritz. Luckily this stuff comes in the cutest little bottle so it's not like you're carrying around a gallon of water.
If you're reading this and find yourself already suffering from makeup stains on your clothes, then you should immediately default to the next tip:
4. Keep the baby wipes handy.
Our very own Susan Cernek said that makeup guru Pat McGrath once advised her to use a baby wipe to remove makeup stains on clothing. I tried it myself the other day and it actually works! If you don't really wanna walk around with baby wipes in your handbag, then try a cleansing wipe such as the Lumene Sensitive Touch Face and Eye Makeup Remover.

How to find foundation that fits you!

  1. Before you pick the formula, you need to find out the right formulation for your skin. If you're oily, look for words like "oil-free," "oil-control" or "mattifying" on the bottle. Got dry skin? Go for moisturizing foundations with "hydrating" or "moisture-rich" wording on the bottle. Foundations containing glycerin glide on easily. For combination skin, determine if you're more oily or dry and go from there. Cream-to-powder bases work great for combination skin. Mineral foundations work well on all skin types, especially sensitive skin.
  2. Consider if you want a light or medium-coverage. If you have good skin, but want to even out a few ruddy areas, consider a light coverage. For women with really uneven skin tone or blemishes, consider a medium-coverage foundation. Some women swear by mineral foundations, so you might want to try these out as well.
  3. Show up to the makeup counter with a clean, fresh face. It's OK to wear eye makeup or lipstick, even moisturizer on your face, but you don't want to show up already wearing foundation.
  4. Select a few colors that seem close to your natural skin tone. Go for the yellow-based foundations, which look most natural on all skin tones. However, if you're very fair, try a pink, cooler shade.
  5. Apply a stroke of up to three colors on a cheek (the inner wrist or hand aren't the best spots, contrary to popular belief). The one that disappears is the right shade.
  6. Take a good, long look -- in natural light. Ask to borrow a hand mirror and stand near a doorway, or step outside, to see which foundation looks best in the natural light. The right shade is one that you can't see because it blends in so well. If you are purchasing from a drugstore, take a couple bottles to a doorway, hold them up to your neck and see which one matches the best or if you have a favorite shade you want to match, match the colors of the bottles, never the swatch on the display.
  7. Once you've bought the foundation, take it home and try it out. If you don't like it you can return it. If you're buying from a drugstore, purchase from one with a liberal return policy (like Rite Aid).

       Tips:

  1. Try the color out on your jawline, not your wrist or hand
  2. Remember to stand in natural light
      1. A foundation with sunscreen is a safe bet, but you will still need to wear sunscreen under your foundation. Also considering skipping foundation and opting for a tinted moisturizer (Laura Mercier makes a great one) instead.
  3. Believe it or not, today foundation is totally optional. It's healthier for your skin NOT to wear foundation daily. If you have blemishes or pimples, try strategically placed concealer instead. Or just wear the foundation on the parts that need it most, likely around your nose and eyes and on your chin. Just make sure to blend properly.
  4. Go for different looks for evening and day. A light foundation is perfect for work or weekend. While a sexy shimmer is great for evening.
Foundations I like are: NYC, MAC, BOBBY BROWN. Im NOT to keen on drug store makeup but sometimes it works just fine. ALL depends on your skin type! COVER GIRL OR MAYBELLINE works good if you can splurge!

5 DO NOT DOES of Beauty

#1: Wearing Foundation on Flaky Skin
Not unlike paint, foundation needs a smooth surface. Otherwise it looks cracked, dry, dull and—worse—obvious, which is the exact opposite of what you want your foundation to do for you. “Foundation should absorb into the skin, disappearing into it,” says Fabiola, a makeup artist who works with Emma Stone and Mila Kunis. To even out the surface of your skin, gently scrub it to remove dead cells and flakes. Try: The Body Shop Aloe Gentle Exfoliator. Then spritz on Kiehl’s Açaí Damage-Protecting Toning Mist. Finish by applying a moisturizing lotion or, if you have extremely dry skin, suki oil. Avoid zinc-based makeup and powders, since they have a mattifying effect that draws even more moisture out of the skin.
 #2: Not Blending Your Makeup
This issue applies to everything you put on your face, whether it's foundation, blush, eye shadow or eyeliner. “No one looks good with hard lines on their skin, eyes or lips,” says Heather Cummings, a makeup artist who works on So You Think You Can Dance. “My motto has always been blend, blend, blend." Use brushes or fingers to gently massage color into the skin everywhere you put it. Don’t forget your jawline, chin and other areas of your face that may be slightly hidden when you look in the mirror.
#3: Using Concealer That’s Too Light
If you want to draw attention to something, you shine a light on it, right? The same goes for the way-too-light undereye concealer that’s supposed to be softening those dark circles but is making them even more obvious. “That’s how you get raccoon eyes,” says Fabiola. “Setting it with powder makes it even worse.” To avoid an ashy, grayish effect, opt for a pink-toned concealer to brighten or a peach-toned one to cancel out the bluish hue of undereye circles. Most important, choose a creamy, easy-to-blend cover-up that’s an exact match to your skin tone.
 #4: Applying Too Much Luminizer
Who doesn’t love the look of glowing, dewy skin? But next time you reach for that shimmery highlighter, think twice. “It is definitely not for everyone,” says Cummings. “If you have oily or problematic skin, luminizer can highlight acne and make you look greasier.” She prefers using a liquid formula like Benefit Cosmetics Moon Beam, which gives a more natural glow. Stick to just one or two areas, such as the top of your cheekbones or bridge of your nose, and use your fingers for more control. Remember, less is more. There’s a huge difference between looking radiant and just plain shiny.
 #5: Clipping Your Cuticles
That little bit of tougher skin is there for a reason: to protect the root of your nail from bacteria and other infections. To keep cuticles looking neat and clean, push them back with an orange stick, says Essie Weingarten, founder of nail brand Essie. “Be sure to use cuticle oil every day," she explains. "You’ll never get hangnails, and your nails will always look like you just walked out of a salon.” If you’re on the run, the Essie Cuticle Pen is a convenient option. It goes everywhere and delivers oil that doesn’t drip.

9. Pilates is doing wonders for your own figure, but the additional sweat has induced some unsightly breakouts to on your back and chest -- areas which is to be exposed in your own (slightly revealing) wedding dress.

Try: Beautyblender, $20, Beautyblender. world wide web

17. It transpired: A big ol' zit in your wedding day, and you couldn't resist picking it.
